Another New York Fashion Week has come and gone. With it, we usher in a new season of fashion. It’s been a big year for us here at Chictopia and for all of our bloggers, so we were particularly excited for NYFW this year. The trip to New York City is often a much needed reprieve from the droll of office life. But at the same time, the team at Chictopia was constantly working around the clock in order to bring you new and exciting content and updates about what was going on at Lincoln Center. We love NYFW because it not only gives us the chance to collaborate with some of our favorite bloggers, but also lets us hang out with them and get to know the people behind the blog. And while they are all stars in their own right, you’d be surprised at how much they really are like us.
Ariat Boot Fashion
While we were in NYC, we spent a lot of time putting together a video on How to Style Fall Boots thanks to Ariat International. The 3 winners of our Ariat contest, XanderVintage, JessAnnKirby, and TripleThread teamed up with our 3 judges, Sazan Barzani, JagLever, and Nanysklozet to run around NYC in their boots while we followed them with our camera. During our shoot with Sazan, we soon realized the energy the fuels her blog. She and her boyfriend Stevie are the friendliest, most energetic, and strikingly down-to-earth couple we may have ever encountered. They are all about the goofy faces and laughing at themselves. Maybe you can tell from the picture?
We tried hard to capture the vibrant personalities of the bloggers we got to see firsthand. The fortune of meeting up and working closely with these people is that we get to hear their stories and learn about the people within our community. When she’s not being a fashion icon, XanderVintage is a mom to an adorable boy and a music festival lover. And while in her home town of Vancouver she often attends fashion weeks, it was surprisingly her first time in the Big Apple!
Charlotte Ronson SS15
Of course, there were plenty of fashion shows to go to (that’s what fashion week is about, right?). Artinourblood and Xteeener joined us at the Charlotte Ronson show, which featured a museum like display artfully crafted, sweet but sporty, spring ready-to-wear. The show was a bit of a media circus, but to all of our amusement, Jennifer and Christine ended up wearing the same top. Great minds think alike they say. While many would have been mortified at this fashion faux pas, both the girls laughed it off and even took a picture together to commemorate the moment.
Xteeener also took the time to help us get ready for the shows with a quick makeup tutorial and interview on how to become a YouTube star. However, we weren’t sure whether Christine was more excited to be working with us or to eat all the amazing food in NYC being quite the foodie. And while that may conjure images of pretentiousness, she was always looking for one dollar pizza. Apparently New Yorkers hate the stuff (something about not being true New York pizza), but she was down to eat it.
Thrifting in NYC
Finally, we couldn’t leave NYC without doing a little shopping first (we even filmed it for you guys). Barbro Andersen and Artinourblood were both kind enough to come with us thrifting on our last day in New York. While enjoying what we do best, we were able to score some really unique pieces, which we can’t wait to start incorporating into our wardrobe. Spending the day with Barbro and Artinourblood, two people who come from completely different worlds (Norway and NYC respectively), we learned that they both are masters of at vintage shopping (and thank goodness, because it can definitely be a struggle). The conversation while sifting through racks of clothes was the perfect way to top off a great trip.
We don’t often get to meet so many people within our community in such a short time. We miss the excitement and bustle of New York Fashion Week, but are eager to continue to bring our community innovative content and updates, so look out! Make sure that you follow our YouTube to see all of our NYFW videos and keep up with us on our social media channels. Be sure to comment about what you would like to see from us! We want to thank you for being a part of our Chictopia community and, hopefully, we will get to find out more about you someday.
